Am I allowed to get super excited over my own soap? 'Cuz I have to share one of my previous procrastinations. Great Cakes Soapworks sponsors a monthly challenge for soap makers to learn soap swirling techniques and share the results. Note I said previous procrastinations. Yep, that's right. The answer to the question of "If not now, when?" when it comes to taking part of a soap challenge was NOW. <Insert happy dance while humming a happy tune>
Here it is - my first attempt at the butterfly swirl - the goal is when to bars are placed next to each other, they are mirror images of the other and resemble a butterfly. I don't even think that you have to scrunch your face too much to see the butterfly.
I talked to you before how I use the "If not now, when?" mantra, to give myself that kick in the pants to stop procrastinating and just do it. But the next thing on my list is not to do something, but to STOP doing something.
It's the evil LIP BALM. Oh, sure, you see lip balm as this soothing healing experience. I see all these pesky tubes that I have to fill that I then have to put these little bitty labels on and yet again shrink wrap those crummy tubes. The lip balm was good, but making it was no fun! See the love in the first paragraph, it's missing now. <no dancing, no humming>
I thought, when I went to events that I had to have a bunch of different products so I'd have something for everyone. It created stress and a flurry of crazy activity trying to get everything ready.
So let's see if you follow my logic -
I will make lip balm
which I hope won't sell
so I don't have to make more.
Sound business practice, huh?! A complication, I don't need so I quit. <aka big sale :)> But this is where I get excited again, because I've just gained time to work on what I love (making and selling soap). How fun is that! And more time selling your passion does make good business sense. So I'm going to let my inner geek out, and focus on just soap.
Saying No, goes against womanhood , cuz we
Try to please everyone (sure honey, it's not quite 10 pm, I'll make you a batch of cookies)
Multi-task (of course, I plan the school carnival while grocery shopping)
Don't give ourselves a break (you watch TV? Wow...)
Here's your challenge, ask yourself "If not now, when?” and stop doing it! (You know which thing I'm talking about!)
Whew! You did it - now you have time to make lip balm. You'll love it!
