This month's soap challenge was to find an inspiration landscape and recreate it in soap. Here's a summertime look at the slough behind the barn. I decided to use this as my challenge inspiration.
What a beautiful day to be on the lake - on a boat - with your dog. Plenty of sun, no wind. These days are on the horizon again.
The problem with kids is they grow up. It used to be that dear son, would often take me on a "Sunday drive" around the slough in the john boat. He was thrilled when he talked his dad into using the electric trolling motor to "wheel" around the lake. But there's something about oars...
When not in the boat, the slough was still a hotbed for activity. Here we have Jakeob with a domestic duck raised as a hatchling and he's holding a baby coot. Just for the record. This is the one and only time that a baby coot was caught and that coots were desirable in any form.
Baby coots will never win the beauty pageant. They seem to have perpetual bad hair days.
And this is what it looks like at "sea level."
I made and cut the soap in 6 hours to get it included in the link up. Another case of do as I say, not as I do. Unmold after 24, cut after 48 - Yikes! But life gets in the way sometimes. I'll be trying this again when time is on my side.
