    Miniature Donkey - Major Fun!

    October 23, 2015

Our tagline - "Wholesome Living in a Colorful World" was never truer as when we added Gus-Gus to our farm.  That is, "Colorful" as in zany personality when we added this goofball to our "Love Where We Live" home.

    The story of Gus-Gus.

After the 6+ hour roadtrip, we arrived back at Home Sweet 444Farm.  In the dark.  And in the country...dark means DARK!

Jay being Jay (organized, does things the right way), heads to the shed to turn on the light so we could see what we were doing.

Me being me (spur of the moment - what could possibly go wrong?!), lets the donkey out of the trailer and plan to lead him into the corral.

Gus-Gus being Gus-Gus first says, "What were you thinking of throwing me in the back of that trailer and hauling me down the interstate?  No food.  No water.  No windows.  Ok, fine there were windows, but I'm vertically challenged.  I couldn't see anything except these big scary lo

ud boxes going by. Bump thump bump.  And quit stomping on those brakes!  I'm a land animal - I don't enjoy surfing! Grass!  You got grass here!  Oh, this is some good stuff! Wait, what's that?  You're not really going to make me live with ... goats??!!  Whew, there's a fence between us.  Alright, things are looking up.  Could I bother you for a back scratch?  Now the rump...what about the ears...Yeah, yeah, oh a little more. And we're good!"

During Gus-Gus's very Loud (cuz quiet in the country is REALLY quiet), very L-O-N-G extended bray, DH (dear husband) is heard shouting, "What's going on?  Is everyone ok?"  I, however, cannot answer being doubled-over with a big ol' belly laugh. DH confesses to visions of Gus-Gus dragging me all over the pasture with me holding on for dear life.

But the truth is he is a love bug!

He loves to "help" us open the gate.  (This one worries me)

A  treat moves you from stranger to friend in .2 seconds

He doesn't like selfies! (This is also a bit disconcerting)

He "cries" when you leave in the morning.

I know, I know!  Where's the video of him braying?  Technology has not been my friend tonight...The suspense will have to build...
