I have a DH (dear husband,) one daughter, one son, and one darling grandaughter!
That it doesn’t take much to delight me – a color or pattern in nature, animal antics, and unique personalities really make my day!
Oh, yes…and I make soap on the farm or at the campsite.
Three things you may not know about me
I'm just a teeny bit claustrophobic and VERY sensitive to noise. This makes sleeping in the camper with the air-conditioner running an "interesting" (chest-clutching) experience.
Initially, I wanted to major in German in college, but couldn’t think of a job that would use it. I ended up with an Elementary Ed degree. But if I did it over again, I might have to really consider psychology.
Soap making is NOT my only dream!
Never stop dreaming!
This entrepreneurial mindset gets in the way of sleep at night and interrupts work until I mull an idea sufficiently to put it to rest - at least temporarily. So while, I think I am living the dream, I'm still doing some "dream making." I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at what my other dreams are.
Some of which I have no talent or are pie in the sky and others, while still a stretch, are reachable. Those are the ones that I like to spend time mulling about in my head and letting them float about until they become workable ideas ready to be attacked.
Writing a smart phone app
I’m hoping this winter to move it from dream state to reality. No longer a dream, even past concept stage, this idea is waiting for me to complete it. I have it sketched out and it is just waiting for me to do it. My stumbling block is that I haven’t ever written a phone app before. Teeny tiny detail. January is on the schedule as my month to learn how. Sneak peak - it is not soap related, but it is farm related.
Writing a book
This probably falls under the “I have no talent” area, but if you don’t try… What I do know that IF I ever try to write a book, it will probably be Christian fiction. Christian fiction is my getaway genre. That genre may fall short in many areas but it’s rare to find one that doesn’t have a happy ending! This is definitely still floating in dreamland. Not a single word or idea on paper.
Going to Nepal for church mission trip
Waiting for the right opportunity…
Teaching classes in small rural communities
In small towns, there’s always talk about the out flux of young people who are leaving to go to bigger towns because of the opportunities available. I happen to subscribe to the thought that towns that invest in creating entrepreneurs instead of attracting businesses have a more sustainable growth model. Help those young people create their own opportunity instead of looking for it in other places.
There really isn’t a good reason why this isn’t happening faster. I just need to do it. I have no qualms about getting up in front of a group of people and I like to teach. It sounds like some goal setting (with dates!) and phone calls are all that is needed to start to make it happen! Ah, the scary first leap…
My Pie in the Sky
I do have a pie in the sky dream too, which I'm going to keep close to my heart right now. But if ever, it gains a foothold we may have to have this talk again.
