Most of the time when we think winter in South Dakota, we think of the white snow and windchills! Yikes! Don't miss those!
But when I think of South Dakota in winter, it brings to mind a palette of blues, browns, and whites.
The blue skies of winter can be breath taking. The muted tones at sunset...
And the crisp color on a bright sunny day! Aren't you a wee bit happier soaking up those sun rays and blue skies?!
The browns dominate the landscape before our first snows. But brown does not mean blah.
In fact, below is one of my favorite pictures. Although that might be more from remembering how loud and rowdy the geese are on the slough.
The browns seem to frame the landscape.
So when I went to make some soap scented with Sandalwood, my mind went to winter and then to blues, browns and whites.
Here is my Sandalwood soap right after I poured it into the mold.
